Welsh guitarist Gwenifer Raymond began playing guitar at the age of eight, shortly after being introduced to punk and grunge. After years of playing around the Welsh glens in various punk outfits, she began listening to more pre-war blues and Appalachian folk music, eventually leading her to join the great guitarists of America’s primitive genre.
Her current record, „Strange Lights Over Garth Mountain“, on the Tompkins Square label, is a change of direction with a more mature personal style and an adventurous embrace of the compositional approach to the tradition of American primitive fingerstyle guitar playing.
