Greek musician Maroulita de Kol presents beautiful music based on deeply traditional Hellenic ceremonial cultures but interwoven with contemporary experimental colours. Raised in Athens, the musician creates music based on the ancient, pre-Christian rites and practices of Greece, re-presented through a contemporary lens. A former classical piano and voice student, an inseparable bond with her homeland has led to an extensive and ongoing immersion in the mythologies, arts, and storytelling of ancestral Greece.
A gateway to a distant land of magic and mythology, her music often swells to undulating waves of strings and traditional percussion, with Maroulita’s voice taking center stage, like a priestess of a solemn religion leading her flock through a mysterious liturgical sacrament.
