Sometimes it’s all in the name. The danceable, costumed, curiousity rich artist duo Freya Tate and Moina Moin are as imaginative as they profess. Or, to get more to the point, as we all need them to be. Freya and Moina are two visual artists and musicians from Stroud and South London. Places where they have found communities (Stroud’s SVA and the Total Refreshment Centre) of like-minded people to pursue an idea to its possibly illogical conclusion.

It’s the collective and the idea of participation that really resonates with Mermaid Chunky. It’s a party, a collective dance, made even better with more: people, ideas, layers, kick drums, recorders, saxophones, frogs. Look forward to a mix of traditional Scottish and Irish dance elements, promenade electro, dirty, trippy laments or a kaleidoscopic waltz into the night.
