Mohammad Syfkhan’s story is one of resilience, survival, and the healing power of music. Beginning in 1983 in Raqqa, the Kurdish-Syrian singer and bouzouki player led his band Al-Rabie—much in demand for concerts and festivals—while simultaneously working as a surgical nurse. In 2011, war brought tragedy: one of his sons was killed by ISIS, and the family fled to Europe. His sons now live in Germany, while Mohammad resides in Ireland with his wife and daughter. His debut album, I am Kurdish, received widespread international acclaim, with I Love You Ireland set to follow in 2026.
