Bad climate – What does sustainability actually have to do with migration?
It is undeniable that mankind’s reckless lifestyle has triggered a cycle of increasingly extreme climate conditions. Some regions of the world feel these changes much more than others. Fortunately, Austria is one of the countries that have been less affected. It is reasonable to assume that this supposed calm is the reason why, for example, climate stickers are often seen as nothing more than an annoying obstruction to traffic. In Austria, too, it would be essential to take the fears and concerns of these activists seriously and listen to their concerns. In comparison, there has been one topic for years that cannot be surpassed in terms of the level of emotionality with which it is discussed: the topic of migration. Although there is a lot of fake news and misconceptions surrounding the climate crisis and migration, the fact that they are closely linked is all the more important to emphasise.
We want to address these connections during the Positive Futures Festival in an interactive format that also involves the audience. We want to dispel misunderstandings with dialogue partners from various fields. Together we will create a thinking space in which solutions can emerge.
