SANAM, a sextet from Beirut, fuses psych/kraut, improvisation/skronk, electronics, goth, and jazz with traditional Egyptian music and modern Arabic poetry—sweeping, hybrid avant-rock from Beirut’s creative independent scene. Formed in 2021 following an invitation from German krautrock legend Hans Joachim Irmler (Faust), these seasoned musicians grouped around Sandy Chamoun—with ties to influential Lebanese acts such as Kinematik, Postcards, and Al Rahel al Kabir—forged their bond amidst national turmoil.
