Yunis ^EGY

Ahmed Younes, aka Yunis, is an Egyptian musician and record producer based between Paris and the Western Delta province of Kafr El-Dauwar. As a self-taught musician, Yunis has developed a deep interest in traditional Egyptian trance music such as “Moulid” or “Shaa’bi” and the associated rituals. He takes inspiration from the popular Egyptian folklore heritage, which features many instruments, tools and musical styles, and then presents his very own contemporary interpretation.

Yunis has toured extensively in Europe and has been artist-in-residence at the renowned Ugandan label Nyege Nyege Label, and at the Cité Internationale des Arts in Paris.
